The Client
Serfis is a specialist civil engineering, groundworks, and surfacing contractor based in the West Midlands. It has a Principal Contractor Licence, which enables the company to work directly for Network Rail on railway infrastructure projects across the UK.
The Brief
Serfis was in the market for a compliance and workflow management system that would cater to the business' specific processes and methods. Having decided that bespoke was the best path forward, Interflow was brought on to carry out the project.
The fundamental requirements were for both office- and site-based employees to have access to the system (with varying permission levels), and for automated processes to ensure that all forms and reports were passed to the Compliance Manager for sign-off (via in-app notifications).
The Solution
We built a custom internal platform that Serfis uses for most of its office-based tasks, with various dynamic site-based reporting modules also built in.
Resource Zone
An area for straightforward access to company-wide internal documentation, such as Policies, Toolbox Talks, COSHH Sheets, etc.
Powered by the full Document Management System in the background, this area allows site-based employees to access the documents they need without having to use (or even know about) the full DMS.
Contextual Help
No matter where you are within the platform, pressing the ? icon in the sidebar will open the Contextual Help drawer. Each page has its own handwritten article which is automatically displayed.

Powerful User Management
Extensive user management capabilities allow for inviting new users, activating/deactivating accounts, and adjusting permissions at the press of a button.
The Results
The platform Interflow delivered met all the project requirements and is now an integral part of the business' office-based operations, with a site-based element to it as well.
Given its modular nature, there is scope to continue adding new features and entire workflows to the platform; something that we are currently exploring with Serfis as they continue to benefit from productivity gains and embrace the power of technology.
Our new platform has brought clarity to our processes. Our entire workflow is now centralised and easy to manage.
